1. A blanket roll or sleeping bag or two.
2. Pure bottled water in a secure, unopened container.
3. Canned fruits and nuts, durable high energy foods.
4. A combination can/bottle opener and a jack knife.
5. A small box of plastic eating utensils and a roll of paper towel.
6. A strong, short shovel for digging.
7. Rain gear and a few versatile items of warm clothing to fit family members.
8. Traction mats or tire chains in case of mud or snow.
9. Booster (jumper) cables and a few basic hand tools.
10. Matches in a tight (waterproof) container and some candles.
11. A good flashlight with a supply of spare batteries.
12. A good first aid kit.
